How much is tuition?

Pricing depends on the plan chosen and number of students enrolled. Please visit our Pricing Page for Tuition costs.

Are there sibling discounts?

Yes! We offer sibling discounts of 10% for the second child, 15% for the third child, and 20% for the fourth child. Any siblings beyond the fourth will receive a 20% discount off the full price per student rate for the plan chosen. Children must reside in the same household and tuition must be paid by the same account for discounts to apply. Discounts do not apply to “Subscription” plans (no live classes). Sibling discounts cannot be combined with other promotional offers unless otherwise specified.

Are there trial classes offered?

Yes! If you would like to experience the online classroom firsthand, we invite you to check out our trial classes! Each trial class is GROUP SESSION with upto 6 students. Trial classes are taught in a 4-part series. Each class builds upon the next. The Class Schedule is as follows:

Trial Class #1 – Why is it important to study Islam?  – FREE!

Trial Class #2 – Who is your Lord?  –  FREE!

Trial Class #3 – What is your Religion?  –  $10 (credited to your tuition upon enrollment)

Trial Class $4 – Who is your Prophet? – $10 (credited to your tuition upon enrollment)

We encourage parents to enroll in at least the FIRST TWO trial classes to allow their student time to get acclimated and comfortable in the online classroom environment. The first two Trial Classes are COMPLETELY FREE! After that, if you are still unsure OR if your student is eager to finish the lesson, we recommend you enroll in the LAST TWO trial classes. These classes will finish out this fundamental lesson that every Muslim must understand. It also offers the perfect foundation as students begin their regular classes at Tayba.

The last two trial classes are $10 each. If you decide to enroll your students, these classes will be FREE, as you will be credited this amount to your tuition account.  If you do not decide to enroll your students, this credit will be available for up to one year, should you decide to enroll at a later time. Trial class credits are non-transferrable and non-refundable.

How can I attend for FREE / CHEAP?

We know, even with our tuition cost at a fraction of traditional Islamic schools, it may still be unaffordable for some families. Therefore, we have come up with several creative ways to reduce or completely eliminate your cost of attendance! There are six ways to help reduce the cost

Referral Discounts – For every student that you refer who enrolls for live classes (without the use of scholarships/financial aid), you will receive a 10% discount off of one of your children’s enrollment fees, up to 100%! That means, if you refer 10 children and they all enroll, your child will attend for FREE! Plus, those children can be from any number of families. So, if you refer just two families with 5 children each and they all enroll, your child will attend for FREE for every month that those children continue to attend classes. It’s that simple. Upon enrollment, every parent will receive a referral code to pass on to friends and family. Some restrictions apply. This is one of the BEST WAYS to get free tuition, as it requires no application or financial information, no waiting lists, and the discounts become active as soon as the first month of tuition is paid by the referred family! Pretty awesome, right? Plus, you get the barakat for every student who enrolls and benefits from these classes! Masha’Allah, it’s a win-win situation. Learn more about our Referral Program HERE.

Sponsorship –  We are actively seeking ongoing sponsorships and donations from generous organizations and individuals to help students who cannot afford the cost of tuition. You may also seek sponsorship yourself from your local masjid or community center, as well as family and friends, by using our Sponsorship Letter. For more information about sponsorship, please visit the Sponsorship Page HERE. Please fill out a Sponsorship / Financial Aid application to be considered as sponsorships become available from our generous donors.

Scholarship – Tayba Educational Center also offers full and partial need-based scholarships for families who need assistance covering the cost of tuition. As enrollment increases, we will be able to offer these scholarships annually, inshaa’Allah. Please fill out a Sponsorhip / Financial Aid application to be considered as sponsorships become available.

Sibling Discounts – Don’t forget you get a discount with every student enrolled from the same household! We offer sibling discounts of 10% for the second child, 15% for the third child, and 20% for the fourth child. Any siblings beyond the fourth will receive a 20% discount off the full price per student rate for the plan chosen. Sibling discounts are applied at checkout.

Group Classes – Our Group classes have a maximum of six students per class and run 45 minutes instead of 30-35 for 1-on-1 sessions. Group sessions are even more affordable than the 1-on-1 sessions and can be a great option for large families. Group sessions will have students from different households in the session, however, it’s possible on rare occasions, that a single family could fill every spot in the group session as long as they have enough devices and their students all fall into the proper age range for that class. Visit the Pricing Page to learn more.

Subscription Plan – If you have a large family or simply cannot afford tuition, we also offer a Subscription Plan for families on a tight budget. Subscription plans range from $50 – $60/montth PER FAMILY and will give you access to the recorded class sessions, enrichment materials, pre-recorded lessons, and “Exploration Activities.” What subscription plans do not offer is the ability to participate in live classes, receive teacher feedback, have parent/teacher conferences, take graded quizzes, or submit any graded work or activities. With subscription plans, students are also ineligible to participate in any contests or incentive programs. However, the subscription plan DOES give you access to all of the non-graded lesson materials and texts, worksheets and enrichment activities, recorded videos and recorded live sessions, and any resources the instructor shares in the classroom resource section. This plan works great for homeschool families who are looking for a reliable and authentic curriculum, with lots of activities and enrichment materials, that they can teach and assess themselves. Visit our Subscription Plan Page to learn more!

What curriculum is being used?

All of our materials and lessons are based firmly upon the Quran and Authentic Sunnah. Our textbooks are published by Safar Academy. We have chosen this collection of books for their strong commitment to authenticity, beautiful and engaging graphics, realistic approach to building upon previous knowledge and a strong ethos that encourages every pupil to acquire the knowledge and understanding to promote their religious, spiritual and moral development and provides pupils with the skills to be able to evaluate their life in a God-conscious way.

Safar’s curriculum centers around the principles and values of Islamic teachings, morals and etiquettes based on the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This relates to our actions, morals, manners and how we deal with and respect people in addition to the environment around us. This ethos is embedded in the curriculum and the learning environment and can also be seen through the teaching methodology of praise, encouragement and reward staff having high standards and expectations of pupils; morally, spiritually and academically positive and caring staff-pupil relationships promotion of a positive learning environment.

You can learn more about the Safar Academy Ethos HERE.  Learn about the textbooks and workbooks we use HERE. Learn more about our Curriculum HERE.

In addition to the Safar Curriculum Books, we also develop our own expanded lessons and enrichment materials to make the online learning environment more engaging! We may include videos, animated or illustrated slides, audio clips, interactive games and activities, instrument-free nasheeds, or other materials that will emphasize certain parts of the lesson and help student interact with and retain information in a more meaningful manner.

Are there any in-person classes, not held online?

At this time, all of our face-to-face classes are held online. However, in the coming years we hope to offer actual “special sessions” in communities that have a high demand and large number of enrollments. These “special sessions” will be held at a central location in a major city, such as a public library, local school or park, and will offer students the opportunity to come together with their instructors and peers and do fun group projects, field trips, and hands-on activities that help students apply their knowledge, make new friends, and encourage them to explore their world through an Islamic lens.

Are there any textbooks or other materials required?

No. All of your classroom texts will be provided in the resources area of the online academy. Parents who would like to purchase textbooks or workbooks for use outside of the classroom may contact us for more information. Worksheets will be free, downloadable and printable. Textbooks will be viewable online.

Some “Exploration Activities” may require additional materials, but these are considered optional (though highly encouraged) activities. Materials may differ from project to project, but may include basic household kitchen items (jar, water, ziplock bags, etc), arts and crafts supplies (posterboard, markers, gluestick), science tools (magnifying glass, binoculars, measuring cups), kitchen ingredients (sugar, flour, salt, etc), or free downloadable software (video recorders, app makers, etc). Exploration activities are extra-credit, therefore, parents who do not have the time, funds, or ability to allow their students to engage in the Exploration Activities can simply opt-out.

How long are the classes/sessions?

Each GROUP class in 45 minutes. Each 1-on-1 class in 30-35 minutes.  Our school year is arranged in quarters. The 2017 – 2018 School Year is our LAUNCH year, therefore, it is arranged a bit differently. The 2017-2018 school year is arranged as follows:

November 1st – 30th – OPEN ENROLLMENT & Trial Sessions

December 1st – February 28th – SESSION A

March 1st – May 31st – SESSION B

June 1st – August 31st – SESSION C

Each session is about 12 weeks long. Live Classes for Islamic Studies and Quran Recitation are held 2x per week,, Quran Tafseer is 1x per week. Students also have pre-recorded lessons, enrichment activities, and exploration activities that they will do throughout the week, outside of the live classes. As this is our launch year, we may adjust the schedule slightly to accomodate for changes in enrollment and staffing, adjustments for Ramadan and Eid, etc.

Next year, we will begin our regular school year schedule:

September 1st – November 30th, 2018 – SESSION A

December 1st – February 28th, 2019 – SESSION B

March 1st – May 31st, 2018 – SESSION C

June 1st – August 31st – SPECIAL SESSIONS [During the summer, we will offer special short-term classes, online camps, and summer bridge programs to help students stay engaged over the summer break, inshaa Allah.]

Will the girls be taught by women?

Currently, we do not yet have enough instructors to divide the students by gender. However, as enrollment increases we plan to offer gender-specific classes for students aged 12 and up, inshaa Allah. We encourage all students to use a webcam during class to allow the instructor to engage them more, gauge their interest, and offer 1-on-1 attention. However, if you have a female student who would prefer to be off-camera during a class with a male-instructor, this is perfectly ok. The Quran Recitation class is currently taught by a female intsructor. The Islamic Education + Quran Tafseer Classes are taught by a female teacher for level one ( ages 5-11 years) and a male teacher for level two (12 years and up).

Within the next few months, we will be adding additional staff as enrollment increases, inshaa’Allah, and older students will have the option of changing to all-female classes as needed.
